Honey is a much healthier choice than factory-made table sugar and artificial sweeteners which do not have any vitamins. It can be used as a natural substitute for sugar in most recipes. Honey enriches and adds flavor to many savoury dishes such as meat casseroles, sauces and dressings. Contemporary chefs use honey in many of their dishes – from salad dressings to barbecues, stir frys, fusion food and delicious desserts. Honey is the first traditional sweetener used by the Greeks since antiquity. Greece has long history of apiary (bee-keeping).
Why Greek honey?
Greece has more beehives per acre than any other country in Europe. A wide biodiversity of flora combined with powerful summer sun produce this golden nectar. For many gastronomers Greek honey is regarded as one of the finest in the world. As a rule, the darker the colour, the stronger the flavour.
